Pablo: The one who stayed
Pablo has spent more than 15 years in coffee, all of them in Urrao and on the same farm. He started by helping his father, and when his father passed away, he took on the responsibility of managing the farm. Although he has six siblings, he was the only one who chose to stay and continue working the land—a passion he has had for as long as he can remember.
He began with a small plantation and gradually expanded his production by purchasing additional parcels from two of his siblings. Today, coffee remains at the center of his life. While his children are involved in both coffee and cattle farming, Pablo is fully dedicated to coffee production.
In recent years, he has focused primarily on Chiroso, alongside some Caturra trees, dedicating his efforts to specialty coffee and quality improvement. He manages both his own piece of land and one belonging to his daughter, around 3,000 trees. As interest in Chiroso grew and the variety gained recognition, Pablo became increasingly committed to understanding its potential. Since 2014, he has participated in competitions, refined his protocols, and adopted a more meticulous approach to processing and farm management, while continuing to expand his production.
For Pablo, success is simple: continuing to work in coffee, maintaining his health, and seeing the farm move forward. His children have been a tremendous source of support along the way, especially one of his sons who works closely beside him, helping with the daily tasks of harvesting and carrying coffee.
