Yessenia: Building a family coffee farm
Yessenia grew up with her grandmother and, at 17 years old, left home to start working. She moved to Huila and began working with Arroz Roa, a well-known rice brand in Colombia. There, she met her husband, Jeison - whose family has a history in coffee farming - and developed her interest in coffee.
In Neiva, she began to deepen her knowledge of coffee, learning about cupping and quality assessment. In 2023, Yessenia and Jeison purchased their own farm, and she started working on it full-time, applying her quality expertise to plant new varietals such as Pink Bourbon and Sidra.
Today, Yessenia has a young daughter and is fully focused on improving and expanding the farm, as well as better marketing their coffee. Her next investment will be to increase space for drying coffee, aiming to enhance quality and speed up shipments.
